Captain Words is a content writing and translation agency connecting writers with those who require something to be written. We are looking for copy editors to join our team to help refine our unique content, blog posts, guides, marketing copy, and more for our clients.
The editor’s responsibilities include verifying the facts used in the articles on required topics, checking for SEO best practices, proofreading and correcting spelling and grammar, and refining the written work for various industries based on the company’s processes and requirements.
As an editor, you will be expected to suggest revisions, rearrange sentences to improve clarity and accuracy, and work closely with the Project Manager to ensure that the client’s needs are met.
If you’re familiar with editing online content and have an eye for detail, we’d like to meet you. Feel free to share samples of your work or portfolio and your application.
When editing for Captain Words, you will deliver quality edited pieces that appeal to our client’s audiences, attract customers and boost their brand awareness.
Responsibilities
Read written work and do revisions to ensure ease of readability
Edit the written articles according to client guidelines
Verify industry-related facts from provided source references
Check content for SEO best practices
Submitting edited documents to Project Managers (PMs) within a limited timeframe
Proofread and correct grammar, syntax, and spelling errors
Requirements and Skills
Excellent command and knowledge of the English language. (If you are applying to become an editor in our other languages, you must have an excellent command of your native language)
Excellent written communication skills
Be very detail-oriented and take the initiative
Be able to work independently and meet strict deadlines
Experience fact-checking using multiple sources
Familiarity with web publications and applications
Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
Computer literacy skills and access to a stable internet connection
Additional Beneficial Skills or Experience

Expansive general knowledge
Interest and ability to learn new skills
Previous work experience in Hospitality, Sales, Management, Recruitment, Marketing, or a similarly demanding field that requires extensive time management, organisational, and self-management skills
